Embassy of Australia (USA)

An art catalogue to showcase contemporary Australian artists in North America

Two boys sitting on a porch in rural Australia

We designed the exhibition catalogues for Seven Points – a two-part showcase of seven Australian artists at the Embassy of Australia in Washington DC. Curated by Bree Pickering, it ranged from paintings to kinetic sculpture and videography works.

A separate catalogue was produced for each of the two parts of the exhibition. The diversity of work meant that we designed an identity that was clean and precise and worked as a neutral container that held the amazing artworks. It was important that our design heroed the pieces rather than compete with them.

Artists in the show were Marley Dawson, Anna Kristensen, Angelica Mesiti, Daniel Boyd, Newell Harry, Kate Mitchell and Tim Silver.⁣

The Gadigal People of the Eora Nation were some of the world’s very first designers. Their experience spans over 40,000 years and their expertise in graphic storytelling has never been surpassed. We acknowledge and pay respect to their work and to their Elders, past, present and future.

Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
